I've been reading a couple more books by Christopher Alexander that happen to be available at the New York Public Library, The Timeless Way of Building (1979) and A New Theory of Urban Design (1987). This timeless book from Christopher Alexander was released back in the seventies, and it's just as much a book on philosophy as on architecture. Lately I've been looking at a lot of houses. But there are so many images, so many versions of Life lived in the mind; which to choose? A beautiful place, blessed with a fine canal and some beautiful old buildings.
